Stories from the Qur’an
So tell them the story, so that they may reflect.
(Surah A'raf: 176)
Cain and Abel. The Queen of Sheba. Dhul Qarnain. Musa and Al-Khidr. These are just a few of the stories read to us during our childhood, stories which took us to distant lands we could only imagine, traveling back in time to see the crucial moments in the genesis and history of human civilization.
When recounting these stories today, we may take them as just stories alone, tales from history whose message we perceive to already know in their entirety. Yet, of all the events in history, Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, chose these select few to be included in the Qur'an, for generation after generation to learn from and repeat over and over again. Why?
In Al-Madina Institute's seminar, "Stories of the Qur'an", revisit these oft-repeated stories, as our teachers take us behind the scenes of history to address this crucial question. In these comprehensive Qur'anic commentaries and analyses, with an emphasis on the Qur'anic injunction for reflection on these events, they challenge us to discover deeper and vivid meanings in these stories. Join them in refreshing the rich lessons in these parables of inspiration for the modern age, as history now becomes our story.
